Baroque violinist Maria Carrasco Gil maintains an active performing career across Europe. At the core of her artistic life are her two primary projects—the award-winning ensembles Marsyas Baroque and I Zefirelli—both supported by prestigious institutions such as EEEMERGING+ and the Deutsche Orchester Stiftung. Her versatile musical path is defined by a vibrant concert schedule and a wide range of collaborative projects.
Maria has performed at renowned venues including the Berliner Philharmonie, the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, and the Prinzregententheater Munich, as well as prominent festivals such as Utrecht Early Music Festival and the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music. As a guest artist, she regularly collaborates on productions with acclaimed period ensembles including Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Weser-Renaissance, Oltremontano, and the Bremer Barockorchester. Her career is further complemented by an extensive discography and numerous radio and television broadcasts.
Her musical foundation began in her hometown of Tarazona, followed by a violin performance degree with top marks at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón and a Master’s degree in Pedagogy from the University of Zaragoza. Drawn to historical performance practice, she relocated to Germany to specialize in baroque violin, studying under Veronika Skuplik at the University of the Arts Bremen and completing her Master’s degree under Prof. Midori Seiler at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. She has gained further artistic inspiration through masterclasses and collaborations with distinguished musicians such as Philippe Herreweghe, Enrico Onofri, Hiro Kurosaki, Vera Martínez Mehner, and the Cuarteto Quiroga.
