Marsyas Baroque creates early music that cuts to the core. The flaying of the satyr Marsyas by Apollo is a powerful metaphor for the ensemble's search for the essence of music: expression, vulnerability, and artistic authenticity. From this perspective, the ensemble creates bold, conceptually driven programs that place early music in dialogue with the present.

The four musicians, Paula Pinn (recorders, Baroque bassoon), María Carrasco Gil (Baroque violin), Konstanze Waidosch (Baroque cello, viola da gamba), and Sara Johnson Huidobro (harpsichord, organ), devote themselves to chamber music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries on period instruments and in their own arrangements. In addition, the ensemble collaborates with contemporary composers and develops interdisciplinary formats with guests from music, theater, dance, literature, and visual art.

Marsyas Baroque performs throughout Europe and is a regular guest at renowned festivals, including the Thüringer Bachwochen, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Bachfest Leipzig, ZAMUS Early Music Festival, Bachwoche Ansbach, Musica Bayreuth, Festival Winter in Schwetzingen, Trigonale Festival, the Universo Barroco and Primavera Barrocaseries (CNDM), and Clásicos en Verano.

In 2024, the ensemble’s debut album featuring suites by François Dieupart and Johann Sebastian Bach was released to broad international acclaim and was presented by numerous radio broadcasters.

The German-Spanish ensemble was founded in 2019 in connection with the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb, where it received a scholarship from the Deutscher Musikrat, admission to the Konzerte Junger Künstler concert series, and the special prize of the Ensemble Academy Freiburg. Shortly thereafter, Marsyas Baroque won first prize at the prestigious Biagio Marini Competition in Neuburg an der Donau.
